There are currently no plans to offer the Ostia Mariner Edition into distribution. This may change, but for now the best way to get the game in the United States is this preorder. We are happy to offer this preorder direct to retailers at wholesale prices. Interested retailers should email our sales representatives at sales@crafty-games.com.
This preorder is for delivery within the United States only. We are exploring options for other territories and may launch separate preorders or sales for those areas at a later date.
Shipping and a tariff fee will be charged as a second fee when the product clears customs (months after your preorder purchase). This is to ensure that both of these costs are accurate and that you are not overcharged for either of them. We do not make any profit from shipping or tariffs. These costs are either passed along directly to you, or in most cases are partially subsidized by us. We strive to offer the best delivery costs we can, but we cannot absorb these costs entirely on our own. Thanks for your understanding.
We use Miniature Market for fulfillment in the United States. All packages will be shipped from Missouri via the most affordable options available, and feature the best product protection in the business.
We guarantee that your preorder will be shipped before any of our product goes anywhere else. Once all preorders are processed, we will wait at least 2 weeks before we make Ostia available on our website, at conventions, or elsewhere. Please note that because this preorder is open to retailers, you may see the game appear on store shelves around the time you receive your copy, perhaps even a little earlier if it’s the will of the shipping gods.
There is no current end date, but we’ll alert you on the preorder page and through our usual channels at least a week before we close up!
We estimate it to be between $5 and $10. There’s no way to know for sure, of course, but given the fluctuations to date, this is our best educated guess at this time. The tariff rollercoaster is real, but we’re keeping a keen eye on the rail so we can hopefully get off between the really gnarly bits.
We make absolutely no money on shipping or tariffs. They’re entirely pass-through costs for us, and often something we subsidize to the best of our ability.
When we acquired the license for Ostia, Pirates had not yet been announced. Uchibacoya has also asked that we not include double-layer boards in our version of the game.
No. Uchibacoya has asked us not to include any content from the upgrade kit in our product.
We believe using them together is pretty easy, though we also recognize that certain folks may not find it so. Allow us to clarify.
We have changed no rules. None. Our edition of Ostia plays exactly the same.
However, because we have changed some icons and language to improve the overall experience, it may be challenging for some players who find it difficult to connect different visuals or terms that mean the same thing. In those cases, we recommend against buying the Ostia Mariner Edition if you also want the Pirates expansion.
The number of these instances is relatively small (under 10). All of these changes were made, in our opinion, to help improve the Ostia base game experience on its own, which is our focus, as we do not have the rights to the Pirates expansion.
We’re still in the process of sharing all our upgrades with Uchibacoya and preparing everything for production, but we’re also pulling together some special, focused side-by-side gallery glimpses we’ll be releasing through the coming weeks. Yes, though not immediately. For a variety of reasons, this preorder needed to launch only in the United States. We are actively looking into Canada and will announce details when we have something to share. If things come together quickly, we may wind up opening this preorder to Canada. If not, we will offer the game in Canada separately.
